Welcome Message from our Head of School

We've Been Educating Students in Sussex, Prince George, Surry, Southampton, and the Tri-Cities for over 54 Years

Thank you for your interest in Tidewater Academy!  We are a pre-kindergarten-Grade 12 college preparatory independent school located in Wakefield, Virginia.  Our school has been educating students from Sussex, Prince George, Surry, Southampton, and the tri-cities of Petersburg, Hopewell, and Colonial Heights for over 53 years.  Our convenient location along Rt 460 in central-southeastern Virginia is ideal for many families.

Our small class sizes and caring, dedicated teachers provide a learning environment where every student is important, family values prevail, and students are able to thrive academically.  At Tidewater Academy every child is a valued member of the school.  As graduating seniors, more than 90% are accepted at four-year colleges and universities.

To complement our college preparatory education, we offer opportunities for leadership in student government and other student organizations, participation in forensics and scholastic bowl, and involvement in community service projects.  We also offer athletic teams at the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity levels.  Teams in baseball, basketball, volleyball, and softball have all won conference and state championships over the years.

Tidewater Academy is fully accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS), and our preschool program is state licensed for ages 2 1/2-12.  We want your family to join our Warrior family.  Not only do we offer school transportation, but also before and after school care and summer care.

On behalf of the faculty and students of Tidewater Academy, we look forward to welcoming you to our school community!  We would love to take you on a tour of our campus, tell you more about our school, and answer any questions you may have.  Call today to speak with our Admissions Director Brandee Phillips at (757) 899-5401.

Sincerely,

Frances J. Chambers, M.Ed.
